Zach Bumpus is stationed in Guam with the US Air Force. Zach is a photographer in the public affairs office on Anderson Air Force Base. This summer he was part of a team of airmen sent to Exercise Pitch Black in the Australian Outback. The Australians have hosted this multinational war game exercise for several years, but this was the first year airmen other than those directly involved in flying participated. Zach was excited to be a “combat” photographer for the exercise. Zach recently passed his sergeant’s exam. He can now take the course work required to be a NCO and hopes to complete his coursework and earn his promotion next spring. This fall Zach will be back in the continental US for a month taking a Content Management (editing) course at the Defense Information School at Fort Meade, MD. An example of Zach’s work is below.
