Confirmation

Confirmation is the church’s pastoral and educational ministry that helps the baptized child, through Word and Sacrament, identify more deeply with the Christian community and participate more fully in its mission.

At Zion, 8th-grade youth are confirmed on Pentecost Sunday, eight weeks after Easter Sunday, after a two-year experiential process. They begin Confirmation at the beginning of 7th grade. To appeal to and engage different types of learning, there are components of worship, classroom learning, service, and leadership.
