Youth Ministry

At Zion, we do not believe youth are the future of the church.  Instead, we believe youth are part of the church right now!  We know teenage years can be overwhelming for both youth and parents, and we want you to know you are not alone.  Together we experience God’s love and grace, and we go out to share what we know with the world.

We do have specific ministries for children and youth, but we also encourage youth and their families to get involved in the life of the congregation in whatever way fits – from Sunday school to choirs to service projects and more.  We hope that you feel at home with us!

Junior Youth Group (Grades 6-8)

This is a lively group of youth who meet monthly for discussions, retreats, community service, and fun! Water floats down the river, lock-ins, scavenger hunts, softball games, and community service are just a few of the events that have taken place.

Senior Youth Group (Grades 9-12)

All high school youth are invited to join us for faith, fun, fellowship, service, and more.

2018 ELCA youth gathering

Every three years, 30,000 high school youth and their adult leaders from across the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America gather for a week of faith formation known as the ELCA Youth Gathering. Through days spent in interactive learning, worship, Bible study, service and fellowship, young people grow in faith and are challenged and inspired to live their faith in their daily lives.

An important part of the Gathering’s ministry are the two pre-events, the Multicultural Youth Leadership Event (MYLE), a faith formation and leadership development event primarily for youth of color, and the tAble, a gathering that gathers, blesses and empowers youth with disabilities.
