Hurricane Harvey has literally rained disaster down upon the people of south Texas and continues to spread north and east to this day.  Please know that the Lutheran Church is active in disaster relief in the area and will be continuing its relief efforts for months to come.  The latest reports show 120 ELCA churches have been affected by the hurricane and subsequent flooding.  Lutheran Disaster Relief is already loading trucks with basic supplies and is gathering chain saw crews to move in as soon as weather and safety permit.

Zion will be gathering special gifts in the weeks to come to send to Lutheran Disaster Relief as they move resources and personnel into the area to assist in relief and rebuilding efforts.  Since the ELCA has standing organizations for this work, you can be assured that your entire gift will go directly toward aid to those in need.  Checks can be made out to Zion Lutheran Church with the notation “Hurricane Relief”.
