Thank you to all who contributed gifts for those in need this Christmas. Zion provided 44 gifts for families from the Jersey Battered Women’s Shelter or from our local Long Valley Community Assistance Program. Your enthusiastic support of this project helped these families to enjoy seeing their children open carefully chosen gifts on Christmas morning, pointing the way to the great gift of love in Christ Jesus that God gives each of us. Thank you for making the love of God tangible to these vulnerable ones this Christmas.

Below are some statistics on the impact our gifts had at the Jersey Battered Women’s Shelter and a note from Nicole Chaladoff who co-ordinated the Adopt A Family program at JBWS:

Holiday Project at JBWS assisted approximately 218 families, serving about 457 children.

Holiday Adopt A Family: 81 families benefited from this outreach program, reaching 180 children. An additional 64 women were provided additional gifts/gift cards (not included in the count of 218 families)! 16 new Adopt A Family donors participated and are eager to adopt more families again next year. (This was Zion’s first year donating here, so we are in this count of 16)
Holiday Boutique: 137 families benefited from the Holiday Boutique, reaching approximately 277 children are often flooded with reminders of traditions that have been interrupted by trauma and their many losses feel magnified. Creating new connections and associations leads to healing and through our holiday project; we are providing our clients with not only holiday gifts, but with an experience of kindness, hope, and safety!

Have a happy & restful holiday!
